After the lifting of travel restrictions in the United States, large numbers of foreigners are expected to arrive across the border by air and land.
According to the report, United Airlines expects more passengers to arrive in the United States this week than last week’s 20,000.
Ed Baston, chief executive of Delta Airlines, has warned passengers to be prepared for long queues initially.
“This stage is going to be a little difficult at the beginning, I can tell you for sure that unfortunately there will be queues,” he said.
“We will solve this problem,” he said.
According to Delta Airlines, since the US announced the lifting of travel restrictions, the international point of sale booking has increased by 450% compared to six weeks before the announcement.
White House spokesman Kevin Manoz tweeted: “With the lifting of US air and ground sanctions, the number of passengers has increased. We are taking significant steps to provide additional resources.”
He said the Biden administration had repeatedly asked US airlines to be prepared for additional passengers, adding that large numbers of passengers would arrive at US airports.
