Twitter Inc is testing whether users receive a warning when they respond to a “negative or hurtful word” message to clean up interactions on social media websites, the company said in a message on Tuesday. When users click Submit in their reply, they are told whether the words in their tweet match the words in blogs and asked if they want to update it or not.
Twitter has long been under pressure to clean up objectionable and abusive posts on its website that are monitored by users who point out tweets and violating technology. “We try to encourage people to rethink their actions and language before posting because they’re always in the heat of the moment and may say something they’re sorry for,” said Sunita Saligram, the world’s leading website- Politician from Twitter trust and protection.
The policies of Twitter do not require users to target insults, racial or sexist stereotypes, or offensive content to individuals.
According to its transparency report, between January and June last year, the organization attacked nearly 396,000 accounts under its harassment policy and more than 584,000 accounts under its hateful behavior policy. When asked whether the project would rather provide users with a checklist to find gaps in Twitter’s offensive language laws, Saligram addresses most non-repeat offenders.Twitter said the project would start on Tuesday and take at least a few weeks as it was the first of its kind for the company. This is done internationally, but only for English-language tweets.
