The Punjab government has banned the sale of sugar for commercial purposes. Punjab chief secretary Jawad Rafique Malik instructed the provincial field officers to strictly implement the month-long ban.
During the period, sugar mills are only allowed to sell sugar to domestic consumers.
The decision was made during the price control meeting chaired by Secretary General Jawad Rafique Malik. During the meeting, the Secretary General said that the current rise in sugar prices was due to an artificial crisis.
Hike in sugar prices was unjustified, an artificial shortage of the commodity is being created to increase the rate against which stern action would be taken.
The meeting examined the prices and availability of essential household items such as flour and sugar. He also reviewed the measures taken against hoarders and profiteers in Punjab and the arrangements for Sahulat bazaars.
According to Chief Minister Usman Buzdar’s policy, population relief is a priority and everyone must work together as a team to that end. The meeting was informed that nationwide crackdown on profiteers and hoarders will continue in accordance with instructions from Prime Minister Imran Khan.
During these raids, 475 tons of sugar and 30,000 kg of ghee were extracted from Vehari.
In addition, nearly 200 sahulat bazaars have been set up across the province, selling groceries such as flour and sugar at discounted prices.

اس مدت کے دوران ، شوگر ملوں کو صرف گھریلو صارفین کو چینی فروخت کرنے کی اجازت ہوگی۔
یہ فیصلہ چیف سکریٹری جواد رفیق ملک کی زیرصدارت پرائس کنٹرول میٹنگ کے دوران کیا گیا۔ اجلاس کے دوران چیف سکریٹری نے کہا کہ چینی کی قیمتوں میں حالیہ اضافے مصنوعی بحران کی وجہ سے ہوا ہے۔
اس میٹنگ میں قیمتوں اور ضروری گھریلو اشیا مثلا آٹا اور چینی کی دستیابی کا جائزہ لیا گیا۔ انہوں نے پنجاب میں ذخیرہ اندوزوں اور منافع خوروں کے خلاف کی جارہی کارروائی اور سہولت بازاروں کے لئے کئے گئے انتظامات کا بھی جائزہ لیا۔
اجلاس کو بتایا گیا کہ وزیر اعظم عمران خان کی ہدایت کے مطابق منافع خوروں اور ذخیرہ اندوزوں کے خلاف صوبہ بھر میں کریک ڈاؤن جاری ہے۔
ان کریک ڈاؤن کے دوران وہاڑی سے 475 ٹن چینی اور 30،000 کلو گھی برآمد ہوا ہے۔
