The State Department spokesman said in a press release on Saturday that the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister are holding talks with various leaders to discuss the need for a coordinated and comprehensive solution to the debt problem.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had previously called for a “global debt relief initiative”, which was widely welcomed by the United Nations, including the presidents of the General Assembly and the Economic and Social Council.
In consultation with the United Nations and other international institutions, Pakistan will bring together a group of countries interested in the United Nations to begin consultations on further steps that can be taken to develop a comprehensive solution to developing countries’ debt problems that are developing from the United Nations result coronavirus.
