After spending two years in jail, PPP leader Khurshid Shah was released by jail authorities in Sukkur.
According to the Supreme Court, the former opposition leader in the National Assembly was released from Sukkur Central Jail by his son after seeking bail of Rs 10 million in the Sukkur Liability Court.
In 2019, the National Accountability Office (NAB) arrested a former opposition leader in a disproportionate assets case.
However, on October 21, the Supreme Court granted bail to Shah in the case.
A two-member high court tribunal headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial had granted bail to the former opposition leader against a bail of Rs 10 million.
During the hearing, the NAB prosecutor informed the court that the investigation against the PPP leader had been completed and clarified that a reference could not be made against Shah due to the lawyers’ strike in Sukkur.
Shah’s lawyer told the court that the office had accused his client of corruption in buying 574 acres of agricultural land. The price of the land and the sale process can be verified by notifying the Collector.
During the last hearing, while questioning the NAB prosecutor, Judge Bandial said that more than two years have passed since the arrest of Khurshid Shah, but the NAB has not yet proved the allegations.

سماعت کے دوران نیب پراسیکیوٹر نے عدالت کو آگاہ کیا کہ پیپلز پارٹی کے رہنما کے خلاف تحقیقات مکمل ہو چکی ہیں اور واضح کیا کہ سکھر میں وکلا کی ہڑتال کے باعث شاہ کے خلاف ریفرنس نہیں بنایا جا سکتا۔
شاہ کے وکیل نے عدالت کو بتایا کہ دفتر نے ان کے مؤکل پر 574 ایکڑ زرعی زمین خریدنے میں بدعنوانی کا الزام لگایا ہے۔ زمین کی قیمت اور فروخت کے عمل کی تصدیق کلکٹر کو مطلع کرکے کی جاسکتی ہے۔
گزشتہ سماعت کے دوران ، نیب پراسیکیوٹر سے پوچھ گچھ کرتے ہوئے ، جج بندیال نے کہا کہ خورشید شاہ کی گرفتاری کو دو سال سے زیادہ کا عرصہ گزر چکا ہے ، لیکن نیب نے ابھی تک الزامات کو ثابت نہیں کیا۔
