The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to increase the squad size of six PSL franchises for the rest of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) team. The PSL franchises will have to select two additional players for their team for the remaining matches.
According to sources, the franchises will select the players in the virtual session on Friday. The 20-member squad will travel to Abu Dhabi on May 26, with the tournament expected to begin on June 5. The final of the tournament will be held on June 20.
Meanwhile, some foreign players have been completely eliminated from the tournament. The likes of George Linde, Ben Cutting, Mahmudullah Riaz, and Joe Burns will not be able to be a part of the rest of the tournament. The franchises will be allowed to take their place in another alternative draft, which will be expected through a virtual session within the next week.
The PSL franchises have already lost some standard foreign players due to the league’s postponement, and the board’s lack of interest in the venue of the tournament has led to some other foreign stars dropping out of the tournament. ۔
However, big names like Martin Guptill and Usman Khawaja will make PSL careers when they take the field for Karachi Kings and Islamabad United respectively, while providing much-needed star power to Pakistan’s Premier T20 tournament.
