Foreign Office spokeswoman Ayesha Farooqui said in a statement that Pakistan welcomed the signing of an agreement between Kabul political leaders on the formation of an inclusive government and the High Council for National Reconciliation. She said, “At this critical point, it is vital that all Afghan leaders work constructively in the highest interest of the Afghan people and help bring lasting peace and stability to the country that has been affected by decades of violence and conflict.”
Pakistan called on all Afghan parties to fulfill their respective obligations, to work with perseverance and a sense of common goals, and to protect themselves from the machinations of spoilers, both internally and externally. The spokesman added: “Pakistan reaffirms its continued solidarity with the people of Afghanistan and reaffirms its commitment to continue to support a peaceful, stable, united, democratic and prosperous Afghanistan in peace with itself and its neighbors.”
