Pakistan turned to the United Nations (UN) over Delhi’s apparent attempt to reach the Muslim majority in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Secretary of State Shah Mahmood Qureshi wrote letters to the President of the United Nations Security Council and the Secretary General, informing them of the recent situation in the Occupied Valley, particularly the recent changes that the Modi government had made to the residence laws Pave the way for non-Kashmiris to get permanent residence there.
According to the Federal Foreign Office’s statement published on Saturday, the letters sent on May 21 were part of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to keep the world body up to date on the current situation in the contested region.
The Foreign Minister drew attention to the newly notified “Jammu & Kashmir Reorganization Order 2020” and the “Jammu & Kashmir Grant of Domicile Certificate Rules 2020”, which aim to change the demographic structure of IOJ & K.
“It was underlined that these acts are illegal and violate UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions and international law, particularly the 4th Geneva Convention,” the statement said.
FM Qureshi highlighted India’s opportunistic exploitation of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic to further intensify military action against IOJ & K.
The Foreign Minister expressed serious concern about India’s state terrorism in the valley and opposed Delhi’s efforts to undermine the Kashmiri people’s indigenous struggle against the illegal occupation of India and the brutalization of Kashmiris by calling it “terrorism”.
FM Qureshi also expressed concern over Pakistan’s continued violations of the ceasefire at the control line (LoC) and labor border (WB) and the deliberate targeting of innocent civilians by the Indian occupation forces.
The Foreign Minister rejected the unfounded Indian allegations of the so-called “launch pads” of “infiltrators” and reiterated Pakistan’s offer to the UN Military Observatory in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to visit the suspected sites to confirm the accuracy of unsubstantiated Indians
He stressed that the real Indian motive for blaming Pakistan was to create a pretext for a “false flag operation” that Pakistan had warned the international community about.
The Foreign Minister reminded the President of the UN Security Council of the Council’s primary responsibility for maintaining international peace and security and urged India to refrain from committing serious crimes against the Kashmiri people; extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detention and detention; Use of pellets and live ammunition; Change in the demographic structure of IOJ & K; Cremation and looting of Kashmiri houses to impose “collective punishment” and to end military action and unprecedented restrictions.
As part of Pakistan’s active diplomatic outreach and the launch of the Jammu & Kashmir dispute in all international forums, the Foreign Minister said that the UN Security Council had kept the evolving situation at IOJ & K fully informed and asked the Council to play its part in maintaining it play of peace and security.

وزیر خارجہ نے نو مطلع شدہ “جموں و کشمیر تنظیم نو آرڈر 2020” اور “جموں و کشمیر گرانٹ آف ڈومیسائل سرٹیفکیٹ رولز 2020” کی طرف توجہ مبذول کروائی جس کا مقصد جموں کشمیر کے آبادیاتی ڈھانچے کو تبدیل کرنا ہے۔
