The Ministries of Agriculture of Pakistan and China jointly convened the second meeting of the Joint Working Group on Monday. The video meeting of the two sides exchanged views on deepening cooperation in the field of agriculture, identified the next priorities for cooperation, and signed the minutes of the meeting, according to China’s website on agriculture and rural affairs.
The meeting confirmed China’s immediate aid to the Desert Locust disaster in Pakistan, discussed the China-Pakistan plant and pest disease cooperation project and the draft China-Pakistan agricultural cooperation plan.
The meeting also agreed to strengthen cooperation in the areas of construction, investment and trade and to implement the Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) to strengthen cooperation in the prevention and control of plant diseases and insect pests, and the construction of a sustainable center for combating to actively promote plant pests in Pakistan.
The Chinese Secretariat of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Pakistani Affairs Bureau of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor sent representatives to attend the meeting.
