LCCI President Mian Tariq Misbah raised the issue during a meeting with OGRA Member (Oil) Zainul Abidin Qureshi. Senior Vice President Muhammad Nasir Hameed Khan and Vice President Tahir Manzoor Choudhary also addressed the gathering.
In view of the challenging economic situation, the government should reduce the share of petroleum levy to give some relief to the people.
Misbah said the business community should be made aware of the specific role of OGRA, especially the modalities for setting up of new petrol pumps.
Zainal Abidin Qureshi said the country was following oil price patterns in the Gulf market, adding that gas demand was growing at 10% to 15% per annum.
He said that 50 percent of the gas demand is being met from LNG and the remaining 50 percent from natural gas.

چیلنجنگ معاشی صورتحال کے پیش نظر حکومت کو عوام کو کچھ ریلیف دینے کے لیے پٹرولیم لیوی کا حصہ کم کرنا چاہیے۔
مصباح نے کہا کہ کاروباری برادری کو اوگرا کے مخصوص کردار سے آگاہ کیا جانا چاہیے ، خاص طور پر نئے پٹرول پمپوں کے قیام کے طریقوں سے۔
زینال عابدین قریشی نے کہا کہ ملک گلف مارکیٹ میں تیل کی قیمتوں پر عمل پیرا ہے ، انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ گیس کی طلب 10 فیصد سے 15 فیصد سالانہ بڑھ رہی ہے۔
انہوں نے کہا کہ گیس کی 50 فیصد مانگ ایل این جی اور باقی 50 فیصد قدرتی گیس سے پوری کی جا رہی ہے۔
