The parents of Wall Street journalist Daniel Pearl appealed to the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Saturday to overturn a decision that overturned the long-term convictions of four men.
Last month, the Sindh High Court (SHC) had acquitted the main suspect Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh and three other men convicted of Perle’s kidnapping and beheading in 2002.
Pearl’s father, Judea Pearl, said in a video message: “We have appealed this decision to the Supreme Court of Pakistan. We are committed not only to justice for our son, but to all of our dear friends in Pakistan so that they can live in a society free from violence and terror and raising their children in peace and harmony ”.
United States chief diplomat for South Asian affairs, Alice Wells, tweeted the government’s appeal against the acquittals.

گذشتہ ماہ ، سندھ ہائی کورٹ نے پرل کے 2002 کے اغوا اور سر قلم کرنے میں سزا یافتہ مرکزی ملزم احمد عمر سعید شیخ اور تین دیگر افراد کو بری کردیا تھا۔
پرل کے والد ، جوڈیا پرل ، نے ایک ویڈیو پیغام میں کہا ، “ہم نے پاکستان سپریم کورٹ میں اس فیصلے کی اپیل دائر کی ہے ، ہم نہ صرف اپنے بیٹے بلکہ پاکستان میں اپنے تمام عزیز دوستوں کے لئے انصاف کے لئے کھڑے ہیں تاکہ وہ کر سکیں۔ تشدد اور دہشت سے پاک معاشرے میں رہیں اور اپنے بچوں کو امن و ہم آہنگی سے پالیں۔
