A number of Pakistanis from around the world have contacted the Secretariat of the Federal Ombudsman to request timely delivery of their passports and ID cards for overseas Pakistanis (NICOP).
The complainants had asked the respective departments to deliver the documents to the respective Pakistani missions. They also requested that deliveries be made to the individual addresses of the Pakistanis. The latter was suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic, they wrote, much to their inconvenience.
Senior Ombudsman Secretary and Complaint Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmad Khokhar of the Federal Ombudsman took note of the matter and sent messages to the Home Office, the Director General for Passports and the NADRA Chairperson for reports on the matter. Khokar ordered them to deal with the problem of the Pakistanis overseas and determined the matter for the hearing.
The authorities have reported that 9,576 passports have so far been sent to various Pakistani diplomatic and consular representations, while 463 passports have been sent to Malaysia by passport service.
The passport’s validity has also been extended by one year to avoid additional inconvenience for expatriates.

شکایت کرنے والوں نے متعلقہ محکموں سے کہا تھا کہ وہ دستاویزات متعلقہ پاکستانی مشنوں تک پہنچائیں۔ اس کے علاوہ ، انہوں نے یہ بھی درخواست کی کہ پاکستانیوں کے انفرادی پتوں پر بھی فراہمی کی جائے۔ مؤخر الذکر کو کورونا وائرس وبائی مرض کی وجہ سے معطل کردیا گیا ہے ، انہوں نے لکھا ، ان کی تکلیف بہت زیادہ ہے۔
وفاقی محتسب سیکرٹریٹ کے بیرون ملک مقیم پاکستانیوں کے سینئر مشیر اور شکایت کمشنر حافظ احسان احمد کھوکھر نے اس معاملے کا نوٹس لیا اور وزارت داخلہ ، پاسپورٹ ڈائریکٹر جنرل اور نادرا چیئرپرسن کو اس معاملے پر رپورٹ طلب کرتے ہوئے نوٹسز جاری کردیئے۔ کھوکر نے انہیں بیرون ملک مقیم پاکستانیوں کے مسئلے کو حل کرنے کا حکم دیا اور معاملہ سماعت کے لئے طے کیا۔
