The Punjab government has made it mandatory to hold local body elections through Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).
An ordinance issued by the Punjab government stipulates that voting by electronic voting machine is mandatory and that local body elections will be held by secret ballot, there will be a joint panel of mayors, deputy mayors and councilors and candidates will win by simple majority.
According to the ordinance, political parties or independents will be able to contest elections only in the form of panels. Those who do not provide panels for all categories will not be eligible to contest elections.
In addition, the age for contesting the election of Naslar will be 21 years, the age for election of mayor and deputy mayor will be 25 years, the age for youth will be minimum 18 years and maximum 32 years while the elected members will be first before the council. The oath of membership must be taken within 60 days of the date of the meeting.

پنجاب حکومت کی جانب سے جاری کردہ آرڈیننس میں کہا گیا ہے کہ الیکٹرانک ووٹنگ مشین کے ذریعے ووٹنگ لازمی ہے اور بلدیاتی انتخابات خفیہ رائے شماری سے ہوں گے، میئرز، ڈپٹی میئرز اور کونسلرز کا مشترکہ پینل ہوگا اور امیدوار سادہ اکثریت سے کامیاب ہوں گے۔
آرڈیننس کے مطابق سیاسی جماعتیں یا آزاد امیدوار صرف پینل کی صورت میں ہی الیکشن لڑ سکیں گے۔ تمام کیٹیگریز کے لیے پینل فراہم نہ کرنے والے الیکشن لڑنے کے اہل نہیں ہوں گے۔
اس کے علاوہ نسلر کے انتخاب میں حصہ لینے کی عمر 21 سال، میئر اور ڈپٹی میئر کے انتخاب کے لیے عمر 25 سال، نوجوانوں کی عمر کم از کم 18 سال اور زیادہ سے زیادہ 32 سال ہو گی جب کہ منتخب ہونے والے ممبران پہلے نمبر پر ہوں گے۔ کونسل کے سامنے. رکنیت کا حلف اجلاس کی تاریخ کے 60 دنوں کے اندر لیا جانا چاہیے۔
