Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tareen has said that all economic indicators of Pakistan show that the economy is moving in the right direction.
He tweeted that the overall progress in tax collection, agriculture, manufacturing and exports was irrefutable proof that the country was progressing well.
“Numbers never lie. Our progress is growing in all accounts, ie agriculture, manufacturing, exports and tax collection. We are now a Chinese surplus country. In addition, there is a lot of rice, corn and cotton,” he said. Creating a surplus, “Shaukat Tareen tweeted.
Muzammil Aslam, a spokesman for the finance minister, also confirmed Tareen’s statement that the media did not paint a true picture of the economy. He attributed the rise in local inflation to the overall rise in global oil and commodity prices. He explained that inflation is rising all over the world without any exception.
Citing data from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Aslam said food prices rose 3.9 per cent in September and October. Edible oil became costlier by 9.6% while dairy prices rose by 2.6%.
He highlighted that while COVID19 has wreaked havoc around the world, it was unjustified to leave Pakistan alone, adding that the economy was showing strong evidence of growth. Exports rose 17.5 percent in October this year, reaching a record high of more than 30 30 billion.
Textile exports reached 6 billion, and tax revenue grew 37% in the first four months of this year (July-October). The spokesperson further said that the collection of income tax was at the highest level of Rs. 1 billion. 151 billion during July-October of the current financial year, which is reflected in the industrial growth of 12.25%.

انہوں نے ٹویٹ کیا کہ ٹیکس وصولی، زراعت، مینوفیکچرنگ اور برآمدات میں مجموعی پیش رفت اس بات کا ناقابل تردید ثبوت دیتی ہے کہ ملک اچھی طرح ترقی کر رہا ہے۔
انہوں نے کہا، “نمبر کبھی جھوٹ نہیں بولتے۔ تمام کھاتوں کے لحاظ سے ہماری پیشرفت بڑھ رہی ہے، یعنی زراعت، مینوفیکچرنگ، برآمدات اور ٹیکس وصولی۔ اب ہم چینی سرپلس ملک ہیں۔ اس کے علاوہ چاول، مکئی اور کپاس میں بہت زیادہ سرپلس پیدا کر رہے ہیں،” شوکت ترین نے ٹویٹ کیا۔
وزیر خزانہ کے ترجمان مزمل اسلم نے بھی ترین کے ان بیانات کی تصدیق کی کہ میڈیا معیشت کی درست تصویر کو اجاگر نہیں کرتا۔ انہوں نے مقامی مہنگائی میں اضافے کی وجہ تیل اور اجناس کی عالمی منڈیوں میں قیمتوں میں مجموعی اضافے کو قرار دیا۔ انہوں نے وضاحت کی کہ پوری دنیا میں مہنگائی بغیر کسی استثنا کے بڑھ رہی ہے۔
فوڈ اینڈ ایگریکلچر آرگنائزیشن ایف اے او کے اعداد و شمار کا حوالہ دیتے ہوئے اسلم نے کہا کہ ستمبر اور اکتوبر میں کھانے پینے کی اشیاء کی قیمتوں میں 3.9 فیصد اضافہ ہوا۔ خوردنی تیل 9.6 فیصد مہنگا ہوا جبکہ ڈیری مصنوعات کی قیمتوں میں 2.6 فیصد اضافہ ہوا۔
انہوں نے اس بات پر روشنی ڈالی کہ جہاں کووِڈ 19 نے دنیا بھر میں تباہی مچا دی ہے، پاکستان کو اکیلا چھوڑنا بلاجواز ہے، اور مزید کہا کہ معیشت ترقی کے مضبوط ثبوت دکھا رہی ہے۔ رواں سال اکتوبر میں برآمدات میں 17.5 فیصد کا اضافہ ہوا، جس سے برآمدات 30 ارب ڈالر سے زائد کی ریکارڈ بلندی تک پہنچ گئیں۔
ٹیکسٹائل کی برآمدات 6 ارب ڈالر تک پہنچ گئیں اور ٹیکس وصولی سے حاصل ہونے والی آمدنی میں رواں سال کے پہلے چار مہینوں (جولائی تا اکتوبر) کے دوران 37 فیصد اضافہ ہوا۔ ترجمان نے مزید بتایا کہ انکم ٹیکس کی وصولی ایک ارب روپے کی بلند ترین سطح پر رہی۔ رواں مالی سال کے جولائی تا اکتوبر کے دوران 151 ارب روپے، جو 12.25 فیصد کی صنعتی ترقی سے ظاہر ہوتا ہے۔
