In the T20 World Cup, Australia has easily beaten defending champions West Indies by 8 wickets thanks to the aggressive batting of David Warner, raising hopes of reaching the semi-finals.
In the match played in Abu Dhabi, Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Openers Avon Lewis and Chris Gayle gave their team a 30-run lead but Gayle returned to the pavilion with 15 off the second ball of the third over.
The West Indies had not yet recovered from the loss when Josh Hazelwood put the West Indies in trouble by moving Nicholas Puran and Ruston Chase in the same over.
After taking three wickets for 35 runs, Avon Lewis was joined by captain Shimron Hitmeyer and together they took the score to 70. Lewis became Lewis’ wicket after scoring 29 runs.
Shamron Hitmeyer played an innings of 27 runs but Hazelwood got his third wicket by dismissing him and then also ended the last innings of Devin Bravo in international cricket, he scored 10 runs off 21 balls.
From the other end, captain Karen Pollard took advantage of a drop catch and played a 44-run innings off 31 balls to become Mitchell Starc’s wicket.
Andre Russell hit two sixes in the last over of the innings to give the West Indies a decent total, scoring 157 for seven.
Hazelwood was the most successful bowler for Australia with four wickets.
When Australia started chasing the target, Aaron Finch appeared a little late, but from the other end, David Warner took the offensive line and increased the score to 33.
Captain Aaron Finch became Aqeel Hussain’s wicket after scoring 9 off 11 balls.
Mitchell Marsh came to Warner’s aid at this stage and the two put on a fine performance and put on a brilliant 124-run stand for the second wicket.
Mitchell Marsh became the wicket of Chris Gayle, who played his last match after playing an innings of 53 off 32 balls, but when he was dismissed, Australia needed just one run to win.
Australia easily won the toss and elected to bat for the fourth time in a row with 22 balls to spare, as well as hopes of reaching the semi-finals.
Proving his return to form, David Warner hit an unbeaten 89 off just 56 balls with four sixes and nine fours and was declared the man of the match.

شمرون ہٹمائر نے 27 رنز کی اننگز کھیلی لیکن ہیزل ووڈ نے انہیں آؤٹ کر کے ان کی تیسری وکٹ حاصل کی اور پھر انٹرنیشنل کرکٹ میں ڈیوین براوو کی آخری اننگز کا بھی خاتمہ کیا، انہوں نے 21 گیندوں پر 10 رنز بنائے۔
دوسرے اینڈ سے کپتان کیرن پولارڈ نے ڈراپ کیچ کا فائدہ اٹھایا اور 31 گیندوں پر 44 رنز کی اننگز کھیل کر مچل اسٹارک کی وکٹ بن گئے۔
آندرے رسل نے اننگز کے آخری اوور میں دو چھکے لگا کر ویسٹ انڈیز کو 7 وکٹوں پر 157 رنز تک پہنچایا۔
آسٹریلیا کی جانب سے ہیزل ووڈ چار وکٹیں لے کر سب سے کامیاب بولر رہے۔

آسٹریلیا نے باآسانی ٹاس جیت کر لگاتار چوتھی بار بیٹنگ کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا اور 22 گیندیں باقی رہ گئیں اور ساتھ ہی سیمی فائنل میں پہنچنے کی امیدیں بھی ختم کر دیں۔
فارم میں واپسی کو ثابت کرتے ہوئے ڈیوڈ وارنر نے صرف 56 گیندوں پر چار چھکوں اور نو چوکوں کی مدد سے ناقابل شکست 89 رنز بنائے اور مین آف دی میچ قرار پائے۔
