The government is not against free media. The prime minister says he is only concerned with “fake news and propaganda”.

The current government has given news organizations more freedom than ever before, Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Friday, as he stressed that his government is not against free media, and only issues “fake news and propaganda”.
Addressing the inaugural function of the Digital Media Development programme, the Prime Minister said: “[fake news] is a disgrace to the country.”
The Prime Minister urged the youth to promote the vision of Pakistan.
He said that when a person speaks the truth, his stature increases in the society and no one respects a liar. “The same is the case with journalism. They may benefit by running fake news, but over time it will get discredited.”
“What matters is credibility,” he said, adding that the PTI-led government wanted the media to tell the truth.
“My government is not afraid of the media and the judiciary,” he said. He said those involved in corruption fear him, but his government is not.
“You can take a look at the record, and I guarantee you that 70% of the events are against us,” he said.
“I can assure you that such slander against the prime minister and ministers has not happened in any other democracy,” he said.
Prime Minister Imran Khan said that recently when Azad was elected the Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, it made headlines in three leading newspapers that he was selected for the post by pseudo-scientific methods like numerical science.
What can be more ironic than this that the present Prime Minister had chosen the Prime Minister of independent Jammu and Kashmir through statistics. If they published something like this in England, I can guarantee you that I would have lost millions of dollars and Shaukat Khanum gained a lot from it. “
The prime minister said his government was not using its media to its advantage like previous rulers, who would “use it to divert attention from their corruption”.

انہوں نے کہا ، “میں آپ کو یقین دلاتا ہوں کہ وزیر اعظم اور وزراء کے خلاف ایسی تہمت کسی اور جمہوریت میں نہیں ہوئی ہے۔”
وزیر اعظم عمران خان نے کہا کہ حال ہی میں جب آزاد جموں و کشمیر کے وزیر اعظم منتخب ہوئے ، اس نے تین سرکردہ اخبارات میں شہ سرخیاں بنائیں کہ انہیں عددی سائنس جیسے چھدم سائنسی طریقوں سے اس عہدے کے لیے منتخب کیا گیا۔
اس سے بڑی ستم ظریفی کیا ہو سکتی ہے کہ موجودہ وزیراعظم نے اعداد و شمار کے ذریعے آزاد جموں و کشمیر کے وزیر اعظم کا انتخاب کیا تھا۔ اگر انہوں نے انگلینڈ میں اس طرح کی کوئی چیز شائع کی تو میں آپ کو اس بات کی ضمانت دے سکتا ہوں کہ میرا لاکھوں ڈالر کا نقصان ہوتا اور شوکت خانم نے اس سے بہت کچھ حاصل کیا۔ “
وزیراعظم نے کہا کہ ان کی حکومت سابقہ حکمرانوں کی طرح اپنے ذرائع ابلاغ کو اپنے فائدے کے لیے استعمال نہیں کر رہی ، جو اسے اپنی کرپشن سے توجہ ہٹانے کے لیے استعمال کریں گے۔
