The Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) has increased the price of ghee at utility stores by up to Rs 30 per kg.
According to sources, the meeting of the Economic Co-ordination Committee was chaired by Finance Minister Hafeez Sheikh in which it was decided that the prices of sugar, flour, rice and pulses would be maintained till the month of Ramadan.
In addition, the ECC approved two key summaries from the Ministry of Energy at the meeting.
The meeting also approved to abolish Neelam Jhelum surcharge of 10 paisa per unit on electricity bills.
According to sources, the ECC meeting also approved the collection of tariffs on payments to offshore supply contractors and communication support for the Ehsas program.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Power Division of the Ministry of Energy had moved a summary to immediately abolish the surcharge due to widespread criticism from various parliamentary bodies.

ذرائع کے مطابق اقتصادی رابطہ کمیٹی کا اجلاس وزیر خزانہ حفیظ شیخ کی زیرصدارت ہوا جس میں فیصلہ کیا گیا کہ چینی ، آٹا ، چاول اور دالوں کی قیمتوں کو رمضان کے مہینے تک برقرار رکھا جائے گا۔
اس کے علاوہ ، اجلاس میں وزارت توانائی کی جانب سے دو اہم سمریوں کو ای سی سی نے منظور کیا۔
اجلاس میں بجلی کے بلوں پر 10 پیسے فی یونٹ نیلم جہلم سرچارج کو ختم کرنے کی بھی منظوری دی گئی۔
ذرائع کے مطابق ، ای سی سی کے اجلاس میں آف شور سپلائی ٹھیکیداروں کو ادائیگیوں پر محصول وصول کرنے اور ایہاساس پروگرام کے لئے مواصلات کی حمایت کو بھی منظوری دی گئی۔
یہاں یہ امر قابل ذکر ہے کہ وزارت توانائی کے پاور ڈویژن نے مختلف پارلیمانی اداروں کی جانب سے بڑے پیمانے پر تنقید کی وجہ سے فوری طور پر سرچارج کو ختم کرنے کے لئے سمری منتقل کردی تھی۔
چونکہ اب یہ منظور ہوچکا ہے ، بجلی کے بلوں کے ذریعے سرچارج کی وصولی کو روکنے کے لئے فوری طور پر باضابطہ نوٹیفکیشن جاری کیا جائے گا۔
انچارج کو نیلم جہلم ہائیڈرو پاور پروجیکٹ کی جزوی مالی اعانت کے لئے سال 2007 میں 31 دسمبر 2015 کے سورج غروب کی شق کے ساتھ نافذ کیا گیا تھا – اس منصوبے کی تکمیل کا ہدف اس وقت شروع ہوا تھا جس کی تخمینہ ایک سو تیس ارب روپے تھی۔
یہ تصور کیا گیا تھا کہ آٹھ سالوں میں صارفین کو فروخت کی جانے والی بجلی کے ہر یونٹ پر اس سرچارج کے ذریعے نصف فنانسنگ حاصل کی جائے گی۔
