According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), inflation based on the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) rose by 0.72% as of April 30 for the combined consumer group. The sensitive price indicator for the reporting week for the combined consumption group was 126.84 points compared to 125.93 points in the previous week.
The weekly SPI with the base year 2015-16 = 100 comprises 17 urban centers and 51 essential items for all expenditure groups. The SPI for the consumption groups from Rs. 17,733 to 22,888, Rs. 22,889 to 29,517, Rs. 29,518 to 44,175 and higher Rs. 44,175 per month increased by 0.72%, 0.74%, 0.81% and 0, 68%.
During the week, prices for 11 items declined, 13 rose, while those of 27 remained constant. SPI-based inflation ended on April 9th for the combined consumer group, falling 8.2%.
