The head of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Justice (retired) Javed Iqbal, gave the green signal at a meeting of the Executive Council in Islamabad to initiate a thorough investigation of the wheat and sugar scandal.
According to the statement, “The NAB will thoroughly investigate the scandal worth billions of rupees. Smuggling, price increases, and wheat and sugar subsidies are also under investigation. “
The board also approved the termination of the investigation against former Attorney General Malik Qayyum for lack of evidence and the termination of the investigation against officials and staff from the Privatization Commission and the Administrative Committee of the Interior Employees Housing Society.
The Board also approved two investigations, an investigation into the mega-corruption against Pakistan Petroleum and an investigation by the Capital Development Authority’s private housing association.
