GENEVA: The head of the World Health Organization warned on Monday that the new coronavirus pandemic was far from over and said he was “deeply concerned” about the effects of normal health care disorder, especially on children.
“The pandemic is far from over,” said WHO Director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, adding that the panel was concerned about the increasing trends in Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America and some Asian countries. “We have a long way to go and a lot to do,” he said.

He added that in 21 countries, due to pandemic border restrictions, a lack of vaccines against other diseases has been reported, citing the global GAVI vaccine alliance.
“The number of malaria cases in sub-Saharan Africa could double,” he said. “It doesn’t have to happen, we work with countries to support them.”
