سول انتظامیہ کا مری کو نو سموکنگ زون بنانے کا فیصلہ
The civil administration of Rawalpindi district has decided to make Murree a no-smoking zone so as to provide a clean environment to the millions of tourists who visit the hill station annually.
Presiding over the meeting of District Tobacco Control Implementation Committee, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rawalpindi Muhammad Ali said that this decision is part of the initiative of major smoking-free cities of Pakistan.
During the meeting, DC Rawalpindi said that smoking would be banned in recreational and tourist places as well as schools, colleges, offices, hospitals, hotels, restaurants, cafes, courts, public transport vehicles and stadiums in Murree.
He directed the Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Murree and other concerned authorities to raise public awareness about the move and directed them to ensure implementation of the directives and take legal action against the violators. ۔
DC Ali remarked that Murree is a popular tourist destination where millions of tourists come from all over the country every year, which is why the district administration is obliged to make arrangements for clean air for them.
He further said that all the tehsils of Rawalpindi would be gradually made ‘no smoking zones’ which would make Rawalpindi the first tobacco free and smoking free district in Pakistan.
The head of Tobacco Control Implementation Committee Rawalpindi also proposed to set up special clinics in major hospitals of the district to help those who want to quit smoking.
The director of the Ministry of Health’s Tobacco Control said that every year more than 150,000 people in Pakistan die due to various diseases caused by smoking, and he acknowledged that such measures would save precious lives and It will help the ministry achieve its Tobacco Smoke-Free Cities of Pakistan Initiative.
ضلع راولپنڈی کی سول انتظامیہ نے مری کو نو سموکنگ زون بنانے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے تاکہ سالانہ پہاڑی مقام پر آنے والے لاکھوں سیاحوں کو صاف ستھرا ماحول فراہم کیا جا سکے۔
ڈسٹرکٹ ٹوبیکو کنٹرول امپلیمینٹیشن کمیٹی کے اجلاس کی صدارت کرتے ہوئے ڈپٹی کمشنر (ڈی سی) راولپنڈی محمد علی نے کہا کہ یہ فیصلہ پاکستان کے بڑے تمباکو نوشی سے پاک شہروں کے اقدام کا حصہ ہے۔
اجلاس کے دوران ڈی سی راولپنڈی نے کہا کہ تفریحی اور سیاحتی مقامات کے ساتھ ساتھ مری کے سکولوں، کالجوں، دفاتر، ہسپتالوں، ہوٹلوں، ریستورانوں، کیفے، عدالتوں، پبلک ٹرانسپورٹ کی گاڑیوں اور سٹیڈیم میں بھی سگریٹ نوشی پر پابندی ہوگی۔
انہوں نے مری کے اسسٹنٹ کمشنر (اے سی) اور دیگر متعلقہ حکام کو اس اقدام کے بارے میں عوام میں شعور اجاگر کرنے کی ہدایت کی اور انہیں ہدایات پر عمل درآمد کو یقینی بنانے اور خلاف ورزی کرنے والوں کے خلاف قانونی کارروائی کرنے کا حکم دیا۔
ڈی سی علی نے ریمارکس دیے کہ مری ایک مشہور سیاحتی مقام ہے جہاں ہر سال ملک بھر سے لاکھوں سیاح آتے ہیں، یہی وجہ ہے کہ ضلعی انتظامیہ ان کے لیے صاف ہوا کے انتظامات کرنے کی پابند ہے۔
انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ راولپنڈی کی تمام تحصیلوں کو بتدریج ’نو سموکنگ زونز‘ بنا دیا جائے گا جس سے راولپنڈی پاکستان کا پہلا تمباکو سے پاک اور سگریٹ نوشی سے پاک ضلع بن جائے گا۔
تمباکو کنٹرول امپلیمینٹیشن کمیٹی راولپنڈی کے سربراہ نے ضلع کے بڑے ہسپتالوں میں خصوصی کلینک قائم کرنے کی تجویز بھی پیش کی تاکہ ان لوگوں کی مدد کی جا سکے جو تمباکو نوشی ترک کرنا چاہتے ہیں۔
وزارت صحت کے تمباکو کنٹرول کے ڈائریکٹر نے کہا کہ پاکستان میں ہر سال 150,000 سے زائد افراد تمباکو نوشی کی وجہ سے ہونے والی مختلف بیماریوں کی وجہ سے موت کے منہ میں چلے جاتے ہیں، اور انہوں نے اعتراف کیا کہ ایسے اقدامات سے قیمتی جانیں بچیں گی اور وزارت کو تمباکو نوشی سے پاک شہروں کے حصول میں مدد ملے گی۔ .
